Community Services Division

In keeping with the Agency Mission, the Community Services Division provides a variety of services to individuals of all ages.   These services are designed to help individuals to maintain independence; improve their current life situations; or alleviate emergency situations. 

Programs are available to provide nutritional meals, light housekeeping and errand assistance, prescription assistance, utility assistance, job attainment skills, and connection to resources within the community.

A customer’s eligibility for service will be determined based on the program they need for assistance.  Each program has specific guidelines which may include criteria of income eligibility, age eligibility, emergency situation, geographic location, and the extent of the individuals need for the service. By dialing 2-1-1, customers can speak to a Certified Information & Referral Specialist who will help to identify appropriate services, explain the guidelines of those services, and refer them to those that may be able to provide assistance.  In general, individuals age 18 years of age and older may qualify for most of the other services, with the exception of specific youth programs, and individuals 60 years of age and older may qualify for the senior services programs.

Ashtabula County Community Action Agency identifies the whole county as their service area.  However, depending on the program certain designated portions of the county may be our targeted service area, or we may extend beyond Ashtabula County’s borders to provide service.  An example of this would be the Energy Assistance programs which the Community Services Division offers in Lake County. There are five nutrition program sites and a job attainment skills site. The main office for Community Services is located in Ashtabula.
