Home Repair Programs

My home just needs some repair, can I get help?

There are various funds available to assist with home repairs.  Here is a list of other programs currently available through Community Action Housing Services.

Minor Home Repair and Modification for Seniors

These funds are provided through the Area Agency on Aging 11, Inc. to assist individuals in Ashtabula County age 60 and over with minor home repair and accessibility modification that will increase their ability to remain safely in their home.  There is a suggested donation towards the repairs based on income.  No one is denied service based on ability to pay, and the donations are used to extend the program to assist more Seniors.  The average amount of repair assistance is $500.

Minor Home Repair and Modification

There are also funds available for minor home repairs and accessibility modifications for individuals and families in Ashtabula County.  Individuals age 18 years of age or older may apply and must meet income eligibility.  These funds are provided through United Way of Ashtabula County.  The average amount of repair assistance is $500.

How do apply for these other programs?

A separate application, called the “Special Programs” application, is required to determine eligibility for these programs.  The income guidelines are different for each, but the form is designed to collect the basic information to determine eligibility for all. 

Some additional papers may accompany the Special programs application based on the programs you qualify for.  You can receive a Special Programs application in several ways:

Can I apply for multiple programs?

Applicants can submit an application for any of the programs they are qualified for.  Each program has its own priority listing based on the specific grant requirements.  Wherever possible, program resources available through our Agency are leveraged with one another to assist.

If there are no internal resources available, or if further funds are necessary, referrals are made to any outside programs or services which may assist the applicant.  You can also dial 2-1-1 Ashtabula County or to reach the information and referral service for your county.

When determining scheduling priorities, those who have never received benefits from a particular program will be given preference over applicants who have utilized the service before.
